Hello, been a while since the last entry.

This one's just mainly gonna be little ramblings that's a concoction of my lack of confidence in the world, my feelings as I work on my own site, and some other things that's been in mind as time just goes by. It might not make some sense and there's some things that I know I don't have a reason no matter how hard i try to think about it, but it is what it is. TL;DR, this is just a lot of feelings I've been having lately.

Part 1: the part that's relevant to the title.

I've been working on my website for a good while now. I overhauled the creations tab and it utilizes iframes now, I have plans for a third shrine, I added a new part that parodies Roblox, even added a custom widget to the home page that shows my latest little blurb from Status Cafe! I've been doing a lot with my website, and I'm proud of it! Though, as much as I love making my website as cozy as it can be with its velvet aesthetic with mustard/dandelion yellow highlights, I've also been taking note of the decline of the United States, and my overall feelings on certain sites, such as Bluesky. Though, nobody really likes talking about politics because nobody really wins in the world of politics so to make a long story short, I've lost a lot of trust and faith the more this place just gets corrupted. It's already made its way into a dream of mine before. I can only dream of being in Canada instead of the Decrepit States....

As for the Bluesky part, I'm not really feeling as much when it comes to using Bluesky compared to what, two years ago or something? While I'm glad that Bluesky is not the burning dumpster fire that is.... that, I don't really see much of a point in me using Bluesky, even if it's to keep up to date with friends and seeing what's new with emulation handhelds and other stuff.

If I can be upfront and honest, Bluesky doesn't really seem to have clear skies for me. Now I know you can just make yourself go cold on there and not exactly leave the site entirely, but 1) as of the 19th they still haven't really implemented a sort of "private" account feature like the poisoned bird did before it was acquired by some tech loon, and 2) I'm indecisive and can't make up my mind sometimes.

On the note of my own website, I've been eyeing and silently debating about this place called Melonland, since I've spent so much time making my own website lately. It's one of those forum places but it's also tied to this whole indie/personal/whatever-you-wanna-call-it web and it looks really fun, as it even has stuff like a classic Minecraft server, Tamogatchi thingy you can embed, webring, and plenty of other things there. I'm still unsure of joining it right away since there's a lot I want to explore. I've been more fond of stuff like Melonland and Newgrounds that aims to bring back the wacky, personal, and fun that the early web had lately, as the days go by and as we're witnessing history practically repeat itself, and not for the better. And maybe have something other than Discord so that I don't have to put all these eggs in one basket since I've been so fed up with Discord lately, it's like a toxic relationship that's difficult to disband.

Actually that segue's to the next part I wanted to talk about: Discord.

I use it, but I don't use vanilla Discord because DEAR GOD I'VE BEEN HATING DISCORD LATELY. UI changes, suddenly one free week of Nitro, stuff that's in your face that you just don't want in your face, like- look Discord.

I don't care how many times you make Nitro look like it's the best bar party of your life, I don't want Nitro. It sounds crazy but I don't want Discord to pester me about Nitro every five minutes just because some random file I want to upload for fun is a single megabyte larger than the limit, & I just wanna chat with my friends. I've had to not only look for some custom theme(s) to hide all the microtransaction nonsense but also apply a custom theme from how ugly the Discord layout is. Like why is there suddenly a thin bar at the top of the client that just shows the name of the server it's so fucking useless-

Fortunately, I am on Revolt. More customizable than Discord and no Nitro to be shoved in your face. You can just use it like you would normally use Discord, but some features that are normally behind Nitro are free with Revolt, like custom banners and custom themes.

So what's all the reasons behind all this? Well, why I don't have all the reasons, the most I can say is that this world is boring, and I want to life the old early web life instead of letting some algorithm dictate what I should see. I'm tired of trying to chase some numbers, those don't even bring any satisfaction anymore since I've been so desensitized to them that it's become white noise. And I personally feel that with the way technology is going, I don't think I like where things are going anymore.

TL;DR, i feel the personal/indie web is so much better than all these mainstream sites that you typically see, and fuck you discord

I'll still be here on Newgrounds and Bitview and other sites, don't worry, it's just that my "social media" priorities have changed thanks to how more developed my own website feels. Sorry if there's some potholes with this post, I wanted to get this out there but it's like 11 PM where I'm at. To quote a video, the modern web has lost its soul. Even if this may not make much sense in the thinking department on my end I just wanna thank you for at least reading this.

It's hard to be optimistic when the land you're living in is slowly tearing itself apart for the worse.

I've decided to join Nekoweb today!

I've heard from someone on Bluesky that the person behind Neocities is one of those AI/Crypto supporters, which sucks since I've spent at least three years making WonderNet and Eric's Corner.

As of right now, I'm still very new to Nekoweb, but brushing up on HTML stuff to refresh my memory. Eventually I plan to transfer Eric's Corner to Nekoweb, and also carry some aspects of WonderNet to it as well. Right off the bat there is a bit less of space to work with but I'm sure with only 500 MB, I can make something.

file garden buddy it's time to come in clutch

Ever since I've been focusing and shifting my social direction from something like Bluesky to something like Neocities, I've had in mind rewriting an old story of mine that didn't quite take off....

If you're wondering what it was, it was a Freedom Planet story, but with NBM involved because someone has to do it after all. I'm still figuring out how I wanna do this and considering when I'll begin (if I'll ever get to it), but a rewrite for that old story is definitely in consideration. I already have two things in mind for the rewrite that will be different than the original versions; one is all set while the other idea might need some time in the oven...

When I get to posting these stories, I'll be putting them up somewhere on my Neocities page. I'm not really a writer, but I'll do my best for the rewrites despite my poor reading stamina.

this whole thing actually is tied to neocities because i've backlogged this for so long thanks to srb2 so im technically gonna be killing THREE birds with one stone instead of two, and thanks to therapy i realized this is something i actually want to do instead of just doing it just cuz unlike with my srb2 mod (which btw an update is on the horizon if ur wondering)

Like the name says it's kinda an addendum to the previous blog post.

Lately I've been kinda giving up on the state of social media. Not having a hopeful outcome for the remainder of this year and not quite confident in the next year. Going forward, if I choose to finally throw in the towel for social media (I'll still be here btw, this place is a special case), then I'll (hopefully) be more focused on doing Neocities stuff. I know of Nekoweb as well, not sure what I'll do there but I do wanna look into that more.

There are a few other cases where I'll still be around, still trying to figure out which ones I'll still be hanging out on. Bluesky........ might not be one of these.

I don't want to really join any new social platforms honestly.

but yeah that's just been on my mind, figured i'd get this out now just in case in the future

sorry for sounding pessimistic but yeah that's where things are right now

Considering the dwindling choices of any really good social media places, it's got me thinking the past few days of something. Do you ever think about the state of social media? It's sorta gotten worse as time has gone by. Like get this:

Twitter? Claimed by some loon who turned it into a nuclear wasteland, and now it's nothing but radiating zombies.

TikTok? Jesus Christ don't get me started.

YouTube? That one episode of TAWOG where Darwin causes entertainment to lose part of its joy. Also the fact that YouTube/Google is saying ad-blockers are bad.

Fortunately there's alternatives. Sure they may not be popular and mainstream, but maybe something that isn't popular might be suffice for someone. With the way I have things set up, I have Bluesky, Pillowfort, BitView, and Neocities (though this one is more for the creative side). There's also Gamebanana but that's for mainly mods.

Like I don't know. Maybe I'm just sorta seeing one side of it (granted maybe for not one of them and I think we can see why), and maybe there's some thin silver linings. Let me know if there's any sort of smaller details that may change this outlook.

Also I don't know how to make a BBS post so this is sort of the closest thing. LMK how BBS posts work!

Just recently made a badge pack for 3DSes! That is, modded 3DS. Those with Anemone3DS since I have it set up like that. It's of one of Freedom Planet's protags, Lilac! This pack contains both left and right sides of the badges.

it was also at this time i realize that i was using an old version of anemone

If you don't know how to install custom badges via Anemone (and by extension, if you don't know how to mod your 3DS), a quick trip to the Hacks Guide wiki should help.

That's all, just wanted to make this little post.

Hey.

So, I have a feeling some of you might be wondering why I've been posting hundreds of drawings from my sketchbooks instead of stuff that I make with Procreate. Thing is, I used to have my digital art stuff as PNGs, but after an update, Procreate has been exporting my PNGs as JPGs, which I never use that format for my stuff.

So how do I export my stuff as PNGs now? Instead of a simple 1-2 where I would export it to my friends on my server first and then save it (since the photos app on ipads compress the images which makes no sense) elsewhere, I now have to save it to the iCloud, download it from there, and only then I can post the image.

I've been fed up with the way Apple devices work since there's so much more you can do if these lousy expensive devices weren't so locked down. Also the fact that I have to occasionally charge the accompanying pencil the moment I have an idea for Procreate is also annoying me. And the lightning cables. Hoo boy the lightning cables....

I've also found it easier to just draw in sketchbooks. On a personal note it's also just been more convenient, it's been the best way for me to really communicate, in a sense, since I have pretty bad social issues. I don't feel so pressured when it comes to sketchbooks, and I can really get things drawn, unlike where I feel as if I have to hinder myself when it comes to drawing on Procreate.

I know for sure there are art programs on Linux over on Flathub. I might download Krita or GIMP and learn how to use those to draw with my drawing tablet one day. Apple is just intolerable and so many hoops to go through just to use the software. It's like how you wanna play online with friends, but everybody else has a subscription and you don't, and you have a console that can go online for free. (in other words modern gaming in a nutshell)

So going forward, will I still do digital art? Short answer, yes, Long answer, it'll be a while before I can stretch again with digital art. It's funny how things these days that are designed to be "smart" are the exact opposite. But that'll be it for now.

Post update:

After some consiseration, I've been thinking about using MyPaint for any digital art going forward, which means I'll have to get used to a drawing tablet once again. Krtia and GIMP are popular ones but MyPaint just looks simple to use. I think it's cuz the former two are going for a more Photoshop-like approach iirc. Anyways, yeah. Hopefully when I download MyPaint from Flathub, I can make good stuff with it the same way I do for Procreate!

Update 2:

Still considering, but MyPaint's pretty neat. Just exploring my options here, that's all.

And after some time considering MyPaint and Krita.... I'm going with Krita!

Just posted a character mod for SRB2 Kart!

Coming straight from the realm of the Garry's Mod workshop, is Lilac! She's one of the protagonists from Freedom Planet, and this time she's got a cool little hoverboard she rented for the races.

Her stats are the same as that of Lilac from the FPChars mod.

Speed = 7

Weight = 2

Prefcolor = Nova.

I couldn't get it to upload on NG unfortunately, but it is on BitView!

The Real World Adventure Commentary

I was actually inspired by some old videos from Robert Benfer and his Klay World stopmotions to make this commentary video.

And if you want to see the original video, you can over here!
